Konami has revealed that the forthcoming Silent Hill Transmission broadcast is scheduled for May 30, 2024, at 4 PM PT.
The broadcast will cover updates on games, the anticipated Silent Hill 2 film, and new merchandise. Stay tuned for these updates.
The remake of Silent Hill 2 is currently under development for PlayStation 5 and PC. The latest combat trailer was showcased during the Sony State of Play event in January 2024.
The project is being handled by Bloober Team, renowned for their work on Layers of Fear and The Medium. The team is collaborating with concept artist Masahiro Ito and composer Akira Yamaoka. The team’s objective is to retain the original allure of the PlayStation 2 classic while transforming it into a more immersive experience for players.
Mateusz Lenart, the Creative Director and Lead Designer at Bloober Team, highlighted the use of motion capture for expressive facial animations, Unreal Engine 5 for superior audio and visuals, and Lumen, a dynamic global illumination solution that instantly adapts to changes in scenes and lighting. The project also utilizes Nanite technology for added realism.
Furthermore, the integration of 3D audio and the WWise sound engine will ensure top-notch sound design. The game’s exploration aspect will be smooth and uninterrupted, thanks to the use of console SSD, eliminating the need for loading screens.
