It might be unusual for a food truck to have it’s own anime, but not if your food truck is anime themed! Okamoto Kitchen has been serving up delicious anime themed dishes since 2014, but they recently released an original video animation to promote their business.

Animation isn’t cheap, and it’s an incredible feat that a full length episode of anime could be produced like this independently at all. The food truck business feels right at home in the world of anime, especially with the growing popularity of cooking and food based shows. Here’s the synopsis for the OVA:

The food truck industry is a brutal world! The naive Okamoto Kitchen food truck team of Haru Umesaki, Chizuru Okamoto, Mickey May and Honey try their best to navigate their way around the unforgiving landscape of the Los Angeles food truck scene. Our heroes will have to push through the growing pains not only to figure out how to thrive in the food truck business, but to also discover who really has their best interests at heart. The culinary arts can sometimes be hard to digest.

The OVA is a delightful treat on it’s own, and initial reactions had people clamoring for more. Many were disappointed to learn just how much it costs to animate anything and that this wasn’t a preview to a wider series. However, the Okamoto Kitchen brand has plenty of other ways you can catch a taste of their delicious offerings.
